Description

RCA Victor, now an imprint of RCA Records was founded after the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) purchased the Victor Talking Machine Company, a phonograph manufacturer in 1929. In the 1920s, Victor had accrued a catalog of jazz artists including Jelly Roll Morton, Bennie Moten, and Duke Ellington. RCA Victor was the home of RCA’s jazz output for decades during the 20th century, and contained additional imprints for jazz such as Bluebird Records. Today, RCA Records exists as a flagship label of Sony Music Entertainment and has a catalog spanning various genres.
